Puppy visits
Somerset Dog Walking’s Puppy visits are full of games to help your puppy become happy, confident and secure around other dogs and in different environments.
Life skills
Young puppies
Our puppy sessions take the age of the dog into account. Young puppies’ bones are still developing, and over-exercise can lead to issues in later life, so we do short, low impact games with them until they are older – as well as playing brain games to keep them mentally, as well as physically, stimulated.
Growing up
As puppy gets older, we start to take them out with friends they are going to be with when they join the group walks. They can join in the fun for 30 minutes, still getting the 1-2-1 attention while they are getting to meet their new friends. Once we are confident that they are happy on a group walk, they can graduate from the puppy visits!
How often?
We recommend (where the family is not at home during the day) that two puppy visits are booked – one am, one pm – so that they are not left alone for more than four hours.
Puppy Socialisation Pack
Each Puppy Visit client also receives a free copy of our Puppy Socialisation Pack, with lots of information about helping your puppy to grow into a healthy and happy dog. We can also complete the socialisation check list during our visits, so you can see exactly what your puppy is learning.
Further support
We appreciate that life with a puppy can sometimes be tricky! We are there to support our puppy visit clients, and are happy to arrange a 1-2-1 training session with us to ensure consistency of cues and to answer any questions about caring for puppy.
